However, by skipping the long lines at the ticket counter, you're bound to save yourself much more than $2 worth of precious vacation time. The tram charges $2 more per ticket when you purchase tickets for the tramway online. Palm Springs tram tickets for adults are about $30 round-trip and kids under 11 are $18. You can buy tickets just before boarding the tram or buy tickets online. However, there are many reasons to spend more time at the top and will get into those. That means that your total time commitment could be as little as one hour if you just wanted to pop up to the mountain station and come back down, including the time it might take to wait for a tram, and for people to get on and off. It’s generally about a ten minute ride from the valley station at the bottom all the way to the top but it can take as long as fifteen minutes. Hang a right and drive about 3 miles on Tram Road and you'll hit the parking lots. In the event there are more than 10 correct entries, the earliest postmarks will prevail. Tram fans can also still participate in the yearly snow guessing contest by sending in a postcard with their guess about when the first measurable inch of snow will fall at the Mountain Station at the top of the tram. “We look forward to welcoming a new season of Coachella Valley residents and visitors to the Tramway and Mt. “Each year’s maintenance closure allows our team the opportunity to perform both mechanical and aesthetic improvements to our tramcars and to our Valley and Mountain Stations,” General Manager Nancy Nichols said in a news release. The first tram up on Monday will be at 10 a.m. 12 for upkeep, which this year included the replacement of tower sheaves (pulley wheels), replacement of the dome windows in both tramcars, and comprehensive mechanical and electrical testing of tramway systems.
